What can you say about Rory McIlroy? How do you bounce back from an epic collapse like the one he had at Augusta? Well, all Rory did was break Tigers U.S. Open record and go 16 under for the tournament. I kept screaming all last week about ” How much of a likeable guy” Rory is. I am Totally amazed and baffled at how quickly he could come back from his collapse in the Masters. This kid is 22 years old. To think he would be able to shoot 69 or better in each of the 4 rounds, knowing what happened a few months back. Rory kept telling the media that he was fine, that it was no big deal, and that he would bounce back after the Masters and he did just that.

I believe people have been looking for the next tier of players to come in and bring golf to another level, since all the off field problems & the injury issues Tiger has had. I think it is too early to compare the 2 players, but Rory’s approach is much different than Tiger’s. Tiger would come out with that killer instinct, intimidate his opponents, and wear his emotions on his sleeve. Rory just waltz’s out there and plays the game he loves with a laid back approach. I’m slowly but surely becoming a bigger golf fan and Rory is one of the main reasons why.

On a side note, There is a great story of Rory finishing up on Sunday and walking towards the clubhouse. He sees a little boy standing there and watching and decides to throw him his gloves. The boy was tickled pink and his mother was beaming. It’s the little things that mean all the difference. I’m not saying that Tiger wouldn’t do that, but most of the time he was so in the zone I don’t think it would cross his mind.
