Father Faces Criminal Charges After Teen Fight

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A Harford County father faces criminal charges.  He's accused of jumping into a fight between his daughter and another teenager.

Adam May has more.

The disturbing video was posed on Facebook.  A concerned citizen sent it to WJZ and police before it was deleted.

This is not a typical fight involving teenagers.  Investigators in Harford County say it depicts Frank Besaw, 36, jumping in, helping his daughter and cheering her on.

"As an adult, he didn't stop the fight.  He encouraged the fight," said Monica Worrell, Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Court documents reveal the fight started over "a bunch of girl drama on Facebook."

Besaw faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and contributing to the condition of a child.

"There's a presumption he was not behaving as an adult should in this situation," Worrell said.

Court documents also reveal Besaw drove his daughter to the fight's location.  The other girl in the fight said she still has cuts on her nose.  She said she started the Facebook argument and the two haven't gotten along for years.

"I just think it's irresponsible and ridiculous," said the other girl's mother.

Her face wasn't revealed to protect her daughter's identity.

"To have a parent participate in it blows my mind, really," she said.

Residents in the upscale Bel Air neighborhood were also shocked.  At least two people called 911.

On Facebook after the fight, Besaw's daughter posted, "Thank you, Daddy.  I love you."  He replied, "I love you, too, honey."

Besaw has not returned numerous phone messages.

As of now, neither teenager is facing charges, but the case is still open.
