Washington Co. School District To Text School Info To Parents

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Parents of students in Washington County, Md., will soon be receiving school information via text messages.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that the county school system will begin texting parents school news such as closings, early dismissals and emergency situations.

Parents who signed up for email announcements from the school system were told about the text messages this week.

County school system spokesman Richard Wright says the text messages and email announcements will be provided by the AlertNow service.
