Lululemon Reopens For Business After Employee's Murder

BETHESDA, Md. (WJZ)—A Maryland yoga boutique reopens three months after a chilling murder took place inside.

Weijia Jiang has the emotional moments for the victims' family and how things have changed at Lululemon.

When upscale yoga store Lululemon in Bethesda opened its newly renovated doors on Friday, it was a bittersweet moment for those who love 30-year-old Jayna Murray.

"Walking into the store was difficult, but for me personally I felt like Jayna was right there with me. I was comforted by that," said David Murray, victim's father.

"I think it's meaningful to show you can get back on your feet, even though it was very sad," said Allyson Brown, Lululemon customer.

In March, Murray was beaten and stabbed to death inside.

Now her Lululemon co-worker 28-year-old Brittany Norwood is charged with the murder.

Norwood initially told authorities two men raped and tied them both up after their shift.

But police say the story was a cover-up.

"We miss Jayna very much, but we're not the only ones hurting," said Kate Murray, Jayna's sister. "Lululemon is hurting, Bethesda is hurting, Jayna's friends are hurting, and we want to be here to support them."

The store has been completely renovated. The theme of the re-opening is "love" to honor Murray. In fact, one of the most notable changes is this stained glass window out front with the word love inscribed in it.

"It means everything to me personally and to the family. That's what the Murrays do is love," David Murray said.

"Gosh, isn't that beautiful? I'm amazed," said Judy Boertlein, of Bethesda.

The piece is meant to pay tribute to the love, passion and grace with which Murray lived her life.

"Today is a day she's turning cartwheels in heaven," said Phyllis Murray, victim's mother.

The tribute to Murray will continue Saturday morning, when a large crowd is expected to practice yoga across from the store. The class begins at 9 a.m.

Murray was in the process of earning a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins when she was killed.
