11 Wineries Ready To Ship Their Bottles To Md.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland residents can start getting wine delivered directly to their homes this week, but right now they only have 11 wineries to choose from.

A new law passed this spring allows wineries to start shipping directly to customers, but they have to get a permit from the state. The state made applications available June 10, and since then eight Maryland wineries and three out-of-state wineries have applied.

That's not very many considering Maryland is home to 50 wineries, and there are thousands across the country.

Winery owners told The Baltimore Sun that they've been busy with farming at this time of the year and have not had time to apply for the permit.
