Vigil Marks 6 Months Since Teen's Disappearance

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Family and friends will gather for a vigil for a North Carolina teen whose body was found in a Maryland river months after she went missing.

The "Justice For Phylicia Barnes" vigil is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

The 16-year-old from Monroe, N.C., disappeared Dec. 28 while visiting family in Baltimore. Her body was found in April at the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River, an hour's drive from the apartment where she was last seen.

Barnes' death was ruled a homicide. Baltimore and Maryland State Police have not released the cause of her death, saying they want to avoid compromising their ongoing investigation.

No one has been charged in Barnes' death. Authorities urge anyone with information about the crime to call 855-223-0033.
