Baltimore To Run PSA To Urge Parents To Keep Kids Off The Streets
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Starting Thursday, a public service announcement will remind parents to keep a close eye on their kids. Jessica Kartalija has more.
The police commissioner wants to remind parents that their children are their responsibility.
Police Commissioner Fred Bealefeld wants answers and he says it's up to parents to keep their kids safe and off the streets.
"Get busy and find out where they are," he said. "We can enforce the law and we do enforce the law. Parents have to be accountable and there are legal repercussions that if your child is continually found to be in violation of the curfew, the ramifications of that are on the parents," he said.
The promo will air during our 11 p.m. newscast and run throughout the summer.
"It worked for me. It worked for a generation of kids in this city," he said.
The city curfew center is up and running and children found after curfew will be picked up and released only when parents come to pick them up.
The PSA will start Thursday at 11 and will run through the entire summer.
