Man Fatally Stabbed In Fight In Hyattsville



HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been fatally stabbed and four others have been injured during a fight at a Hyattsville.


City police spokesman Sgt. Chris Purvis says police were called to a fight at the University Town Center on America Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. He says one person pulled out a knife during the fight and stabbed a man.


Purvis says the man, identified as 21-year-old Leonard R. Smith-Matthews, was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.


Four other males also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals.


Authorities are investigating the homicide.
