3 Dead In Car Crash In SE Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Metropolitan Police Department says three people are dead after a single car crash in southeast Washington.

Police say the crash happened at just after 2 a.m. on Saturday on Mississippi Avenue. Police say the operator of a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the car while going over a speed bump. The car slid out of control and crashed into two trees in Oxon Run Park.

One male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while a second male passenger and the driver died after being taken to a hospital. A fourth passenger is in serious condition.

Police did not release the identities of any of the people involved in the crash.
