Baltimore Councilman Stokes Files To Keep His Seat

BALTIMORE (AP) --  A councilman who appeared to be running for Baltimore mayor has instead filed to keep his Council seat.

Carl Stokes filed Tuesday to keep the 12th District seat he has been occupying since last year when it opened after Bernard "Jack" Young ascended to Council president.

Stokes will face several other Democratic candidates hoping to represent the district covering central and east Baltimore in the primary. They include Devon Brown, Jason Curtis, Ertha Harris, Jermaine Jones, Odette Ramos, Frank W. Richardson and Robert R. Stokes. Libertarian Scott James Spencer has also filed to run for the seat.
