Police: Drunken Driver Rear-Ends Squad Car
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police in Frederick say a drunken driver rear-ended a marked patrol car and injured the officer at the wheel.
They say Officer Keith Donovan was on patrol about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday when his car was struck on southbound U.S. 15 by a speeding driver.
Police say the impact sent the patrol car careening across all four traffic lanes before it came to rest on the left shoulder of the highway.
A police spokesman tells WFMD radio that Donovan was treated and released at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Police say Kevin Dodds, 26, of Clifton, Va., has been charged with driving under the influence and other traffic violations.
