Water Main Break Floods Part Of Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A neighborhood in Cumberland is mopping up from a flood caused by a broken water main.

The Cumberland Times-News reports major property damage from the event Wednesday morning in the area around Bedford and Decatur streets.

The Adams Family Funeral Home tells the newspaper it suffered several hundred thousand dollars in damage from chest-deep water in the basement.

Officials say the 24-inch water main burst at about 5 a.m. They say it ran for more than two and a half hours before workers shut off the water supply.

The city says normal water pressure should return to the affected area by Thursday morning.
