Mother, Daughter Murder Victims Laid To Rest

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A mother and daughter both killed together are laid to rest.

As Gigi Barnett reports, the suspect once lived with the victims.

Outside the St. Abraham Baptist Church in Baltimore, family and friends of Alicia Avery, 25, and her 4-year-old daughter Darry'el Parker, wait to say goodbye.

Police discovered the mother and daughter shot to death inside their Baltimore County apartment early last week.

Their family is still in disbelief.

"I can still hear her voice in the back of my head and she was supposed to come," said Cressia Stewart, victim's sister.

Police say Brian Lamont Eggleston Jr., 28, shot Avery and her daughter.

He was Avery's boyfriend.

Her family says she was pregnant with twins and wanted to break-up, and Eggleston was often abusive.

"Why my sister and my niece? That's all I want to know. Why my niece?" said Bria Ramsey, victim's sister.

Police say at the time of the murders, the victims and the suspect lived together in Loch Bend Drive in Baltimore County.

But on the same day of the homicides, city police arrested Eggleston on an unrelated drug charges.

Now he faces first-degree murder charges.

As for Avery's family, "I just miss her, but she's in a better place," Stewart said.

Eggleston is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

A preliminary hearing for Eggleston is later this month.
