BLOG: Hot Week Ahead

Here comes another round of heat and mugginess.

We topped out at 90 degrees both days this weekend, but this is only the beginning of another hot streak. Both the temperatures and dewpoints/humidity will be climbing the next few days. We are expecting highs in the mid 90s tomorrow and then upper 90s Tuesday, possibly challenging the record high of 97 degrees from 1907. You can also tack a few degrees onto those highs when you factor in the heat index each afternoon.

There are two different fronts off to our west. The two of them will draw the heat north and then push it into the Mid-Atlantic. The first of these fronts will then move into the heat Tuesday. Some late-day thunderstorms are possible when the front passes by. Then, the second front could cause scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. After that, they will push the heat right back down to the south.

It will still be hot and muggy with highs in the low 90s Wednesday before highs are dropped back into the mid 80s Thursday and Friday. We will watch for another storm to move our way next weekend.
