BLOG: Cooler Air Ahead
The cold front is moving through today. It has definitely warmed up ahead of it again today, but without the intense humidity/high dewpoints of the last few days. After a round of showers and thunderstorms, even cooler air is moving our way.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Baltimore south. It’s in effect through 10 p.m. There are scattered showers and even a thunderstorm or two north of the city, but some strong thunderstorms have formed south of it. There have been severe thunderstorm warnings in northern Virginia and we could still see warnings issued for southern Maryland or the Eastern Shore.
When the front passes through tonight, it will take the last of the thunderstorms and this round of heat with it. We are setting up for a string of beautiful days. Lows will drop into the low 60s overnight and then highs will only recover to the mid 80s tomorrow. That is actually below the average of 87 degrees. We will stay close to that average for the next few days with lots of sunshine.
More clouds will start to build into the region over the weekend, then the chance of thunderstorms will start to increase again early next week. Hotter air will also start its return early next week.
