BLOG: Jeremy Conn's Midseason Awards

I wanted to give out my midseason awards. MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year for the American League....
A.L. M.V.P. - I feel like this one is pretty easy. Adrian Gonzalez has 17 homeruns 77 RBI's and he is leading the league in batting average with .354.  A power hitter who is leading the league in batting average.  Jose Bautista gets an Honorable Mention... not too shabby considering he has 31 homers.
CY Young - So many different guys to choose from in the American League.  This year the pitchers look amazing.  Jared Weaver is leading the league in E.R.A. and Justin Verlander has been down right unhittable.  But I'm going with the league leader in wins. C.C. Sabathia is 13-4 with a 2.72 E.R.A. and he has 126 strikeouts. He is an absolute horse so I'm giving him the nod over the other two.
Manager of the Year- I feel like this is a no brainer.  Although the Indians have faded a bit before the all star game, they are still only a half a game out of first. Manny Acta has Cleveland sitting at 47-42 and no one thought they would be there.
Rookie of the Year - Early in the year I was screaming about Zach Britton, but he has clearly faded. Michael Pineda is the guy. Pitching for a team that doesn't score him a ton of runs.  His line is pretty spectacular. Pineda is 8-6 with a 3.03 E.R.A. and he has 113 strikeouts.
Up next I'll do the National League...
