Artists Head Outdoors For Md. Plein Air Contest

EASTON, Md. (AP) -- Artists and art lovers will spread out across Talbot County next week.

Easton's Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival takes place all week. Artists will be taking their easels and paints outdoors to capture scenes over a four-day period. The artists will then select their two best works to be judged. "En plein air" is a French term that refers to painting outdoors, in the open air.

Art lovers can view the works at a number of events. In addition to gallery exhibits, events include workshops, studio tours, and children's drawing events.

Easton's Academy Art Museum is the venue for the competition exhibit.

The event is organized by the Avalon Foundation.
