CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say the death of a person whose skull was found on a Kent County has been ruled a homicide.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Wednesday the death a homicide and the victim had trauma to the head.

A man walking on the Tolchester Beach near the Chesapeake Bay shoreline on Monday afternoon found the skull. The medical examiner’s also found that the skull was consistent with a male and estimated that the victim died this year.

State police are investigating the death. Investigators have sent information to police departments throughout the region and asked for departments to check missing person files for potential matches.
