NASA Continuing Air Quality Flights Over Md., D.C.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- NASA is continuing low-level flights over the Baltimore-Washington traffic corridor to help improve satellites' ability to measure air quality.

NASA says it will conduct its eighth flight Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Satellites already monitor air pollution, but researchers say it is difficult to use measurements from space to detect pollution near the ground. The purpose of the current flights is to help improve that ability.

The flight path will go over the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
