Va. Man Electrocuted While Working On Power Pole

LOTHIAN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a Virginia man working on a power pole in Lothian was electrocuted.

Brian Gillis, 39, of Virginia Beach hit a live wire when he was working on a power line about 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Capital of Annapolis reports Gillis, who was working for a Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. subcontractor, was kept atop the pole by his harness and co-workers brought him down with a bucket truck.

Fire officials say despite CPR, Gillis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Maryland Department of Occupational Safety and Health is conducting an investigation.
