WASHINGTON (AP) — The heat is breaking records across the Baltimore-Washington region.

The National Weather Service says the temperature hit 105 at Dulles International Airport on Friday, breaking the all-time record of 104 set in 1998.

At Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the temperature hit 106. That broke the record for the date of 101 degrees, set in 1957.

The Weather Service says the temperature at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor was 108, but it is not an official record-keeping site.

I still can’t believe people think global warming is fake. News flash: Global warming affects weather in both extremes. More water vapor in the atmosphere makes more severe weather! Very simple concept folks.

  2. Donna says:

It’s summer and it’s hot. Okay…. and? Every year it’s the same story. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. We have a couple of record-setting weeks and it’s sensationalized. I don’t understand the fixation. You are not reporting anything that people already don’t know. All you have to do is open the door and realize it’s hot as hell, so take precautions. We don’t need a story from every major news station every half hour every day saying the same things. The weathermen report the temps and heat index, tell people to drink water, stay cool, yadda yadda. They interview a couple of regular Joes who say “har had it’s hot out here- gotta stay cool”. We’ve been hearing it for years- it’s getting old.

    1. Tom says:

Actually we’re breaking heat records by 20 degrees, okay? It’s kind of a big deal. But you’re too narrow minded to understand that. Imbecile. Go back to your fantasy world. I’ll stick with scientific fact and reality.

    2. Tom says:

@Donna – I bet you think global warming is a sham because we still have winter, right?

      1. Bev says:

Lol. Same thing thing, different year. We are NOT shattering records by 20 degrees- are you crazy? We have broken a few records by a couple of degrees. If we were shattering records by 20 degrees, it would be 125+ (without the heat index), which it is not. Even if we are slightly breaking records, what good does it do that it is the first, second, and third story for a week straight on every station. Okay, it’s hot, records are breaking- okay, and? If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a thousand times. The reporting is no longer useful, just annoying.

      2. Bev says:

Also, my sister never mentioned a damn thing about global warming. We both believe in it, sure, but that’t not what the article is about. If the news channels wish to run this as every story, why not delve into that topic then instead of sensationalizing and running the same ol’ schtick of “HIGH TEMPERATURES- HEAT EXHAUSTION- RECORDS BREAKING- STAY COOL!” It’s the same stuff over and over and we all know the drill by now….

  3. KM says:

If you think global warming is the cause, especially if you really think we puny humans have that much of an impact on global climate, then tell us why Mars is heating up without any human impact. Very simple concept, Tom.

    1. Tom says:

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet’s recent climate changes have a natural, and not a human-induced cause. I never said anything was human-induced.

      1. Bev says:

If you believe it is not human-induced, then why are you going on about it? If we haven’t caused it and we can’t do anything about it, then what are you up in arms about? I’m not understanding….

      2. Tom says:

@Bev – Because it’s happening but people want to pretend like it’s not, and say “it’s summertime, it gets hot out.”

      3. Bev says:

What is the difference if it is summertime and it gets hot or if it is climate change and we can’t stop it? Doesn’t seem like there is a difference to me. It’s hot as hell- okay. Now what Tom?
