Reward Offered In Frederick Killing
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- An operations manager at a Frederick restaurant is raising money to help the children of a woman who was fatally shot this month.
Gary Brooks is trying to raise $25,000. He says $20,000 would go toward the children of Tranice Richardson, who was killed July 8 at the age of 33. The remaining $5,000 would be offered as a reward for information leading to the arrest of the man who is wanted in her killing.
Brooks tells The Frederick News-Post that citizens should take care of their fellow community members and not rely on the government.
Authorities have issued a warrant charging Melvin Smith with murder in Richardson's death. Smith remains at large. Smith and Richardson were romantically involved.
