BLOG: More Heat On The Way

We may not have hit the triple digits today, but we still topped out at 98 degrees. And it still felt like it was in the triple digits when you factor in the high humidity/dewpoints. The worst of this round is over. However, there is more heat on the way.

There is a cold front passing north of us tonight. That front sparked scattered showers and thunderstorms today. Most of the action was on the Eastern Shore where there were drenching thunderstorms and severe thunderstorm warnings. That front is moving away tonight, just as a new one moves our way tomorrow. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will accompany this next cold front tomorrow as it moves right through Maryland. It is this front that will push the worst of the heat down to the south - at least for now.

It is still going to be muggy tomorrow with highs right around 90 degrees. After the front moves through, the humidity/dewpoints will get knocked down slightly Tuesday and Wednesday. However, highs will still be close to 90 degrees. At the same time, a new round of intense heat is building over the middle of the country again. Heat was forced from Texas up through the Rockies today and will move farther north and east tomorrow. That heat is going to move our way again. Temperatures will start building Thursday, then jump to the upper 90s/near 100 degrees by Friday.

Try to be smart out there in this heat.
