Motorcyclist Killed In Anne Arundel Co. Crash

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Police say a Pasadena man was killed when his motorcycle went off the road.

Police say James Cockrell, 52, was riding a homemade custom motorcycle with a group of other riders Saturday evening when he lost control of the motorcycle.

Police say another rider in the group lay down his motorcycle to avoid hitting an oncoming car that may have crossed the center line on Nabbs Creek Road. That's when Cockrell lost control and went off the road into a wooded area where he was thrown from the bike.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another motorcyclist was treated at Shock Trauma and released.

Police say Cockrell was not wearing an approved helmet and alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.
