International Students Hold Mock UN Sessions

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Dozens of students from at least eight countries are gathering in Frederick for three days of mock United Nations sessions.

The event beginning Wednesday at Hood College is the highlight of a two-week summer camp sponsored by the local UNESCO Center for Peace.

The 13-to-21-year-old students will debate weighty issues including torture, global warming, and tobacco use among the world's youth.

The summer camp began July 17. It also included a mini-Olympics and trips to Washington, New York, Baltimore and Hagerstown.

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
