MICA Receives Largest Ever Financial Gift From Longtime Trustee

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland Institute College of Art says it has received the largest gift in its history.

The Baltimore Sun reports the $10 million gift comes from longtime trustee George Bunting Jr. and his wife, Anne Bunting. Officials say it will allow the college to supply more scholarship money and better technology to graduate students. It will also be used to develop broader relationships with visiting artists and community organizations.

George Bunting is president of Bunting Management Group and was the former chairman and CEO of Noxell Corp., which was founded by his grandfather. He has served on the college's board of trustees for more than three decades. The college was founded in 1826.
