Man Drowns At House Party In Upper Marlboro

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County police are investigating a drowning that occurred during a large house party in Upper Marlboro.

Police say Kevin Akinfeleye, 22, of Lanham drowned in a swimming pool early Sunday morning.

Cpl. Henry Tippett, a police spokesman, says there’s no evidence at this point to indicate foul play. But homicide detectives are investigating, as is routine in such cases.

Several county police officers were working at the party, and police say their actions will be the subject of an internal investigation. Tippett says the party was attended by several hundred people.

O.K., so they can skip the costly investigation.

Ten bucks says: Here’s what happened.

22 yr old Kevin was consuming excessive amounts of alcohol for several hours prior to losing consciousness in the swimming pool in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Due to his blood-alcohol content, he failed to regain consciousness, and drowned in the swimming pool. Party goers found him face-down in the pool, called 911, and attempted to revive him while awaiting emergency assistance to arrive. Kevin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our actions determine our fates. Use this tragedy as a reminder that we are all mortal, and choose to drink responsibly. Don’t ever make your parents and loved ones have to endure the pain that Kevin’s family will live with from now on.

Several hundred people at a pool party and no one saw a person floating in the water earlier? Were they all that drunk? People need to grow up and start being more responsible.
