Legg Mason Cutting 35 More Jobs In Owings Mills

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- Legg Mason Inc. says it plans to lay off an additional 35 workers at its Owings Mills facility.

The company on Monday filed notice with the state's Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation. The employees will be laid off between Oct. 1 and January and are part of a previously announced plan to shut down the facility in Baltimore County.

Company spokeswoman Mary Athridge tells The Baltimore Sun that the cuts are part of Legg Mason's plan to streamline its technology group and outsource some of its work.

Legg Mason last year announced companywide cuts of 350 jobs.
