Man Hurt When Freight Train Hits His Car

NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a New Jersey man is in critical condition after his car was hit by a freight train near New Market.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says David Callan of Stratford, N.J., was injured about 9:45 p.m. Monday.

The agency says Callan drove down a private lane from East Baldwin Road and ended up on the CSX railroad tracks. Deputies say the train hit the rear of the Toyota Camry.

A spokeswoman at Shock Trauma in Baltimore told The Frederick News-Post on Tuesday that Callan was listed in critical condition.
