4 Current And Ex-Metro Employees Accused Of Theft

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two current Metro transit employees and two former employees have been arrested on theft and conspiracy charges.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says the arrests were made Wednesday by Metro's police force.

A Prince George's County grand jury indictment accuses Alfred Atanga, 50, a former Metro supervisor, of paying workers Empriss Jacobs and Keesha Richardson and ex-employee Lakisha Gardin for hours that they didn't work in Metro's customer service office. The four are charged with theft valued at an estimated $25,000.

Jacobs and Richardson, both customer information specialists, have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
