BLOG: Ravens Need Depth At QB

Last season, the Ravens had a quality backup QB in veteran Marc Bulger. Unfortunately, that will not be the scenario in 2011 as Bulger announced is retirement this week. Now, Baltimore is in a tough spot as they look for a new #2 quarterback.

Joe Flacco has played every game of his 3-year NFL career so, the backup QB probably isn't going to play much, if at all. But, with every player a hit way from being out, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Baltimore drafted Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor in the 6th round of the 2011 draft. Even though offensive coordinator Cam Cameron likes Taylor's talents, it's unlikely the Ravens would go into the season with him as the 2nd-string QB.

Jake Delhomme, Brodie Croyle, Todd Collins and J.P. Losman are just some of the free-agent QB's out there and none of them are very exciting. However, they are all veterans who have had varying degrees of success in the NFL.

It's clear that the Ravens need to bring in another quarterback. It will be interesting to see who that player will be.
