Baltimore County Rewrites School Facilities Policy

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore County school board is planning to vote on a revised facilities policy that would allow PTAs and community groups to hold craft fairs and bingo games.

PTA members became upset last year when school administrators prohibited third-party vendors from earning profits at county schools. The policy led to the cancellation of long-standing craft fairs that raised tens of thousands of dollars for PTAs.

The Baltimore Sun reports that after receiving numerous complaints, the school system rewrote the policy to allow nonprofit and for-profit organizations to use the facilities.

The changes are scheduled to be introduced Tuesday night.
