Md. Couple Pleads Guilty To Animal Abuse

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Brunswick couple has pleaded guilty to animal abuse charges stemming from the discovery of nearly 100 dogs inside their home, but will not serve any jail time as part of a plea agreement.

Assistant Frederick County State's Attorney Colleen Swanson says Ivan and Patsy Issette pleaded guilty Thursday to 33 animal abuse charges and will serve 1,080 days of probation, with 18 months supervised. Swanson says the state dropped 65 charges against the couple.

Ninety-five dogs and seven birds were found in the couple's home when county animal control officials raided it in May.
The couple's lawyer, Dino Flores, said his clients always intended to take care of the animals.
