Prince George's Co. Police ID Person Of Interest In Toddler Shooting

LANDOVER, Md. (AP)-- Prince George's County police have identified a person of interest in the shooting of a toddler.

Police say the boy, who's less than a month shy of his 2nd birthday, was hit in the face by a stray bullet during a gunfight between two individuals at a Landover-area apartment complex.

The boy was in his mother's arms when he was shot around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. He remains in critical condition.

Police are now trying to find 18-year-old Deven Matos. He's not a suspect but detectives want to question him.

Police Chief Mark Magaw says police are devoting extensive resources to finding the people involved in what he calls "a senseless act of violence."
