Md. Flag At Half-Staff To Honor Delegate Webster

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's flag is to be flown at half-staff in memory of former Delegate Kenneth L. Webster, who authored legislation to make Maryland the second state to recognize the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a holiday in 1974.

The state flag will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday in honor of Webster, who served in the General Assembly from 1970 to 1978.

The Baltimore Democrat and Air Force veteran of the Korean War died Aug. 13 of kidney failure at a Baltimore hospital at age 76.
