BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore city officials say many traffic signals are not working due to Hurricane Irene, and motorists are advised to use caution.

Officials say the signals will not be functioning in time for Monday’s morning commute.

However, emergency generators have been set up to provide power at some major intersections, and officers will be stationed at others.

Officials Baltimore Gas and Electric is working to restore power in the area.

People here in Baltimore need to learn basic driving 101. When you come to a intersection where the traffic light is out, you treat it as a four way traffic stop. You dont gun your engine and speed the intersection!

so true but they don’t, maybe O’malley can pass a new law now requiring drivers take written and driving test each time they renew and then raise the cost to over 500 dollars for a license, that way he can say it will be all about safety the test and increased fee’s. NOT that I want that to happen but some drivers need this!!

No kidding! I stopped at an intersection this morning that did not have a working light…and the fool behind me HONKED at me!
Hello? You are supposed to STOP, not just fly through the intersection.
