Conn. Man Charged With Shooting At Off-Duty Officer
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State police say a man who allegedly fired shots at an off-duty police officer has been arrested in Connecticut.
James H. Hill III of New Haven, Conn., was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with attempted second-degree murder.
Troopers say about 2:30 Thursday, the off-duty Prince George's County officer who was driving his own car called the state police barracks and reported that he was following a speeding car. Police say as the officer continued to follow the car onto Interstate 270 near Georgia Avenue in Montgomery County, someone in the car put a handgun out of the window and fired several times at him.
The officer was not hit. He eventually lost sight of the car but provided the tag number to authorities.
