BWI: Weekend Runway Repaving May Delay Flights
LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- Travelers may encounter some delays at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport this weekend.
The airport is closing its two busiest runways for about 54 hours as it repaves a critical intersection. Meanwhile, a shorter little-used runway will be used for most commercial operations.
Airport officials say passengers and travelers should expect flight delays throughout the weekend and area residents may notice a shift in aircraft activity.
The maintenance project is the first such closing in more than two decades. If weather conditions prevent the work, the project will take place next weekend.
