Maryland Couple Marries On Sept. 11

MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland couple is turning Sept. 11 into a day of celebration.

Edward Casinover and Christine Briggs of Pasadena, Md., are marrying Sunday on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Washington and New York.

Bridesmaids are wearing patriotic colors -- navy cocktail dresses and bright red platform shoes with bows -- for the 5 p.m. ceremony.

The couple won a contest at a Maryland golf course for a free wedding. Casinover, an Army veteran, entered the contest run by the Musket Ridge golf club in Myersville. He said the couple couldn't afford a lavish wedding.

The day gave him pause, at first, but his bride said good things should happen on 9/11. In an interview before the ceremony, the groom said that today is now "a happy day."
