WASHINGTON (AP) — The North American Aerospace Defense Command says a series of training flights will be held in the D.C. area.

NORAD says aircraft will practice interception and identification procedures in the region on Thursday from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Civil Air Patrol aircraft, Air Force F-16s and a Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter will participate.

NORAD, based at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., is a joint U.S.-Canadian command that patrols the skies over North America.
