Montgomery Co. Police Make Arrest In Serial Bank Robberies Case

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland County police say a 44-year-old Beltsville man is expected to have a bond review hearing on Monday after being charged in the robberies of seven banks in the county.

Police said in a news release that Samuel Lewis has been charged with seven counts each of armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was arrested on Friday.

Authorities say they're continuing to investigate whether the suspect is responsible for other county bank robberies.

Police say the armed robberies happened between Oct. 14, 2010 and Sept. 2. They say a tipster contacted them after they released bank surveillance photos to the media. Authorities say the anonymous tipster is eligible for a reward of up to $2,500 from Crime Solvers of Montgomery County.
