Tighter Security Measures Go Into Effect At NFL Stadiums
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- There was plenty of action on football fields across the country Sunday. But before the games, NFL fans got their first hands-on experience with extra security measures.
Adam May has more.
From Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to the Metrodome in Minneapolis-- new security procedures went into effect at NFL games across the country. Pat-downs previously kept above the waist, extend to the ankles.
The new mandate slowed down lines a little, but overall, ticket-holders had few complaints.
"If one extra pat-down ensures my safety, I say go for it."
"I belive it's safer for the crowd. There's fewer worries about someone carrying in a knife, getting drunk and stabbing them or something."
"We can feel secure, safe inside."
The changes were recommended prior to this season but implemented after last week's Jets-Cowboys game, when a man pulled put a stun gun during a fight in the stands, injuring several fans.
"I heard the Taser before I saw a Taser," a witness said. "I'm not going to lie, I heard the zzz noise."
At Ravens games, the changes go into effect Oct. 2 when the Ravens take on the Jets.
