Outside Investigation Continues Into Missing Files
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) -- An outside counsel is investigating computer files that are missing from the State's Attorney's Office in Somerset County.
The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that the files were discovered missing in early January. An outside counsel is still reviewing the situation to determine if there's enough evidence to launch a full investigation.
County officials were tight-lipped about the investigation, but the probe initially focused on who had logged onto the computers the weekend before they discovered to be missing.
Somerset State's Attorney Daniel Powell has said specialists recovered deleted files, though some were unreadable because they were in a binary code.
