Va. Shelter Reunites Long-Lost Dog With Md. Owner

CULPEPER, Va. (AP) -- Wendy Love doesn't know where her dog Kiddo has been for more than three years. She's just glad he's been found.

Love and her akita mix were reunited last week in Culpeper, more than 100 miles away from their home in Gaithersburg, Md.

Love tells the Culpeper Star Exponent  that Kiddo disappeared in February 2008 when she went on vacation and left him with a sitter.

Kiddo was captured by Culpeper County Animal Control personnel who thought he was a feral dog. They discovered a microchip implanted in Kiddo that led them to Love.

Animal control operations manager Kim Seibert says Kiddo isn't skinny or mangy.

Kiddo's whereabouts since he disappeared likely will remain a mystery.
