Bomb Squad Checks Suspicious Item At D.C. Airport

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Authorities at Reagan National Airport outside of Washington have called a bomb squad to investigate a suspicious item found on an employee shuttle bus in an employee parking lot at the airport.

Airport spokeswoman Kimberly Gibbs says the suspicious item was reported about 2:30 p.m. Friday. The Arlington County police bomb squad was called as a precaution. Gibbs says the investigation is not affecting airport operations.

Gibbs says there is no indication the item is harmful but authorities have not determined what it is. The unattended item was left on the shuttle bus and was discovered in a remote area of the employee parking lot.
