Ex-Councilwoman Johnson Gets Delay Of Sentencing

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A sentencing hearing for former Prince George's County Councilwoman Leslie Johnson has been delayed.

Leslie Johnson pleaded guilty in June to destroying evidence in a federal corruption probe that also ensnared her husband, former County Executive Jack Johnson. She was scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 13, but a judge granted a delay. A new date was not set.

Johnson's attorney, Shawn Wright, filed a motion in federal court in Greenbelt on Monday seeking the delay "in light of
scheduling conflicts that have recently come about."

Wright wrote that she had discussed the motion with the government's lead prosecutor, and that he does not oppose the request.
