Former Wicomico Co. State's Attorney Arrested

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A former Wicomico County state's attorney has been arrested on charges of violating a court order by contacting a woman he had dated.

Police say Davis Ruark was taken into custody Thursday in Salisbury. Authorities say Ruark violated an order issued on behalf of a woman on Sept. 16 that prohibits Ruark from coming into contact with her. Police say the woman told authorities that Ruark attempted to contact her many times this week.

According to court records, Ruark was released on his own recognizance.

Thursday's arrest was Ruark's latest run-in with the law. In 2008, Ruark was arrested for drinking and driving in Ocean City. He was later charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence.

Ruark was Wicomico County's state's attorney for more than 20 years.
