BLOG: After Great Weather, The Clouds & Rain Roll In

After a gorgeous weekend weather-wise, a new round of rain is moving this way.

With bright sunshine we went all the way up to 83 degrees this afternoon. That is still about 10 degrees shy of the record, but way above the average of 69 degrees. We are going to hang on to this warmth for one more day before we really start to feel the changes.

The tropical disturbance that has been spinning around Florida the last few days is slowly drifting northward. At the same time, there is a very elongated storm over the middle of the country that stretches from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. That storm is the one that will pick up the tropical disturbance and direct it our way the next few days.

Tomorrow, we will just see some high clouds moving in. Then, those clouds will thicken on Tuesday and may even produce a little rain. A more solid area of rain from that disturbance will move through Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will take a hit during this time, dropping back down to around 70 degrees.

Although the tropical disturbance will get out of here for the end of the week, the front over the middle of the country will follow it. There is the chance for some showers Friday and Saturday from that storm. And it will bring even cooler air with it. Highs by the weekend will be back down in the 60s.

Just an aside... A big thank you to everyone for the wonderful calls, emails, and good wishes. After a stint of bedrest, the boys decided to come into this world a little too early. Believe it or not, they came the night of the hurricane. Everyone is doing well now. I am back temporarily before I resume the rest of my leave. But I will be back permanently later this fall. Thanks again!
