State Records Find Essex MVA Slowest In Maryland

ESSEX, Md. (WJZ)– We all hate to wait in those long lines at the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) offices. But it now appears people in Essex have it the worst.

State records show customers spend more than 40 minutes on the average visit to the Essex location.

The best place to get in and out quickly? The Cumberland MVA, which has an average wait time of under 12 minutes.

It’s not surprising. I live in Essex and when I drive by it, there’s always a line out the door. It’s basically a full service MVA in a suite better suited for a limited service MVA.

Lets face it Everyone in essex is a little slow

    1. Donna says:

This coming from someone who forgot an apostrophe after the “t” in “Let’s”, the comma after “it”, and the period at the end of the sentence. You capitalized “everyone” and not “Essex”.

Perhaps you need to visit our public library here in Essex (where I was born and raised). Try again.

        LOL this says it all,

  3. Solid Citizen says:

Essex seems to deliver service at the speed I generally experience at a Verizon store

    Quo warranto, B.O.

  4. Al says:

I have been in there several times…. The waits are much closer to TWO HOURS. There is never enough open stations to keep the lines down. Also if the room gets COMPLETELY PACKED there is never any attempt to open more stations to try and get the lines down

    1. Matt says:

thats because the people that work there know they make the same amount of money if they serve 1 person or if they serve 1000 people in a day. that along with no incentives or quotas makes it hard to motivate employees.

ever notice when the door opens how many are closing their booths and walking out on break??

Did you know there is a 30-45 DAY wait to get an appointment for your Driver’s License at any MVA? This is state wide, granted budget cuts and furlough days have had a part in all this. I bet if the general public had to wait this long, there would be more publicity.

  6. Jolene says:

The problem is due to simple overpopulation in the area. Essex is quickly becoming an extension of the city.

  7. Craig says:

Believe me westminister is not much better. The DMV is the size of a Mc Donalds and serves all Carrol County and Western Baltimore County. About 15 feet between the information desk and the front door. Very stupid design. Try going there when the kids are out of school and they are all getting their licenses what a nighmare. Also, don’t go there during the 12 pm hour everyone is on break at the same time. Good luck

  8. baltimore resident says:

like they really had to do a survey to figure this out? When has the service ever been quick at MVA, they only know how to do 2 things quick, 1 is take a break and 2 is take your money, everything else is only 2 speeds slow and stop!!
