Fire Displaces 50 People From Their Md. Apartments

LANGLEY PARK, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County fire officials say a fast-moving fire has displaced 50 people from an apartment building in Langley Park.

Officials say firefighters were called to an apartment fire in the 1400-block of University Boulevard about 5:45 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say they arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof of three attached buildings, and located the fire in a top-floor apartment.

Authorities say they had to cut through the roof to extinguish the fire.

The blaze displaced residents from 11 apartments.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
